AP Cabinet Approves New Construction Works in Amaravati
Cabinet clears investment proposals worth over Rs 16,400 crore

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Thursday approved 44 agenda items, including major construction works in capital Amaravati, through a detailed session that lasted two-and-a-half hours.
In a bid to position Amaravati as the country's first "Quantum Computing Hub," the cabinet sanctioned 11 IT projects, seven of which are dedicated to Quantum technology in the capital's new "Quantum Valley."
Companies like QpiAI and Qubitech would set up research and hardware facilities.
Visakhapatnam secured three major IT campus projects, including the Sree Tammina and ACN Healthcare, reinforcing the city’s status as the state’s IT capital.
The Cabinet meeting was presided over by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Signalling that the construction of the capital city is shifting into high gear, the cabinet approved the L1 bid for the construction of Lok Bhavan in the Amaravati government complex. This massive complex would house the governor’s residence, the governor’s office, the assembly Durbar Hall and guest houses.
Additionally, the cabinet gave the nod for the Phase-III expansion of the E3 Road with a six-lane elevated corridor connecting to NH-16, a project that would cost Rs 532 crore.
Briefing the media, Information Minister K Parthasarathi said the cabinet approved 14 major industrial projects with a total investment outlay of over Rs 15,000 crore. A highlight is the IFFCO Kisan SEZ, which alone brings a potential investment of Rs 9,400 crore and related infrastructure development worth Rs 870 crore.
Other big-ticket approvals include ReNew Photovoltaics’ Rs 3,990 crore solar wafer unit and TGV SRAAC’s Rs 1,216 crore expansion.
The minister said, “In a push to industrial growth and capital development, the Cabinet cleared investment proposals worth over Rs 16,400 crore across industries, IT, and tourism sectors, promising employment to over one lakh youth.”
The tourism sector received a boost with approvals for some high-end hospitality projects. The cabinet cleared land leases for a Hyatt 5-star hotel and a Hilton hotel with a convention centre in Visakhapatnam. In Tirupati, the Oberoi Group’s luxury resort project was revived under the name Svara Hotels Ltd, with a Rs 250 crore investment.
The Cabinet announced a bonanza for cricketer N Sree Charani, a member of the victorious ICC Women’s World Cup squad. She would receive a cash reward of Rs 2.5 crore, a Group-I government job, and a 1,000-square-yard house site in Kadapa.
For Backward Classes, the government approved an additional subsidy of Rs 20,000 for 27.2 lakh rooftop solar plants under the PM-Surya Ghar scheme.
For government employees and pensioners, the cabinet ratified the release of a 3.64 per cent dearness allowance.
In a relief to the drought-prone Kuppam constituency, the cabinet hiked the budget for four check dams across the Palar river to Rs 15.96 crore to stabilise the ayacut.
The cabinet approved the proposal for a revised administrative sanction of Rs 1596.50 lakhs (instead of the previously approved Rs 1,024.50 lakh for the repair/reconstruction of a check-dam across the Palar Rriver in Kuppam (M), Chittoor district.
To provide quality education in tribal areas, the cabinet approved thea proposal to upgrade 227 Telugu Pandits, 91 Hindi Pandits and 99 Physical Education Teachers working in tribal welfare Ashram Schools to the post of school assistants.
The Cabinet approved the draft Andhra Pradesh Prisons and Correctional Services Act, 2025, to replace the archaic 1894 act, aiming to modernise prison administration.
