Andhra Pradesh received national tourism honours for leadership and innovative sector reforms at the 69th Indian Travel Congress in Kolkata.

Tourism minister Kandula Durgesh received the ‘Excellence in Tourism Leadership Award’ at the 69th Indian Travel Congress annual convention and exhibition organised by the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) in Kolkata.

Andhra Pradesh also received the ‘Award of Merit – Outstanding Tourism State of India’ for introducing innovative reforms in the tourism sector. The awards were presented at The Bengal State Room, ITC Royal Bengal, as part of the convention marking TAAI’s 75th anniversary.

Durgesh thanked TAAI for recognising the State’s efforts to promote tourism. He said the sector was growing with the Centre’s support and under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

The awards had increased the government’s responsibility to further develop tourism and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position as an international destination, he said.

Inviting travel industry stakeholders to explore the State’s diverse tourism offerings, Durgesh urged them to promote its attractions and showcase them to a wider global audience. He also congratulated TAAI on completing 75 years.

TAAI representatives appreciated Durgesh’s efforts to promote tourism in Andhra Pradesh.
