Andhra Pradesh has become one of the top four states in implementing the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, with over 4.11 lakh rooftop solar systems installed.

Andhra Pradesh has emerged as one of the top four states in the country in implementing the Centre's PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, with more than 4.11 lakh rooftop solar systems installed so far, Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand said on Thursday.
Chairing a statewide video conference with DISCOM chiefs and senior Energy Department officials, Vijayanand directed officials to achieve all targets within the stipulated timeframe and ensure the timely release of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to eligible beneficiaries.
He said the government is committed to expanding rooftop solar adoption, promoting clean energy and making Andhra Pradesh the country's best-performing state under the scheme.
As of August 4, the state had installed 4,11,915 rooftop solar systems. Of these, 2,78,438 have been uploaded to the National Portal, while 1,33,477 installed under the SC/ST Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model are awaiting portal upload.
Reviewing the SC/ST ULA programme, Vijayanand said the state has set a target of 5,99,105 rooftop solar systems with a combined capacity of 1,198.21 MW. Materials have been supplied for 3,01,524 systems, while 2,27,549 installations have been completed, accounting for 38 per cent of the target.
Among the DISCOMs, APSPDCL leads with 47 per cent progress, followed by APCPDCL (35 per cent) and APEPDCL (32 per cent).
Vijayanand directed EPC agencies to upload installation details to the National Portal within 24 hours, complete pending inspections within seven days, resolve portal-related issues within 15 days and establish 24x7 Solar Cells.
He also called for closer coordination with banks to provide affordable loans for rooftop solar systems and expedite the rollout of the proposed BC Utility-Led Aggregation model, under which the state will provide a ₹20,000 subsidy for every 2-kW rooftop solar installation.
