AP Allocates ₹90.20 Crore To Repair Bridges Neglected For Years
The sanctioned funds will be used to complete 14 unfinished bridges spread across 13 assembly constituencies in nine districts: Reports

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned ₹90.20 crore to complete 14 long-pending bridge projects that have remained unfinished for years due to delays in land acquisition and other administrative hurdles, Roads and Buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy announced on Sunday.
He said the coalition government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has undertaken a special initiative to revive infrastructure projects that had been abandoned midway, so as to benefit the public.
The sanctioned funds will be used to complete 14 unfinished bridges spread across 13 assembly constituencies in nine districts. Of these, 12 bridges are part of major district roads and the remaining two are on state highways.
The projects being taken up are in Madugula, Anakapalli and Payakaraopeta constituencies in Anakapalli district; Pithapuram in Kakinada district; Kaikaluru in Eluru district; Bhimavaram in West Godavari district; Gannavaram and Penamaluru in Krishna district; Darsi in Prakasam district; Satyavedu and Gudur in Tirupati district; Pulivendula in Kadapa district; and the Nandigama-Jaggayyapeta region in NTR district.
The minister said 11 of the bridges had already been structurally completed in earlier phases, but remained unusable because approach roads had never been built. The remaining three projects require both the construction of the bridge and approach roads before being opened for traffic.
Janardhan Reddy attributed the prolonged delay primarily to serious bottlenecks in land acquisition. He said the coalition government identified these idle projects and decided to allocate fresh funds despite the state's financial constraints.
The objective, he said, is to complete the pending works at the earliest and make the bridges operational, thereby improving connectivity and serving the larger public interest.
