Another 2 Lakh Homes To Be Ready By Sankranti: CM
Naidu announced that three lakh families would be able to perform their house-warming ceremonies in September, followed by another two lakh homes by Sankranti.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday directed officials to expedite the ongoing housing projects with the goal of completing 10 lakh units across the state by March next year under various central government schemes.
Naidu announced that three lakh families would be able to perform their house-warming ceremonies in September, followed by another two lakh homes by Sankranti.
Naidu directed officials that the housing projects be categorised into A, B and C for effective execution. During a review held at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the CM asked officials to prepare a list of poor families that are still without homes. The list must be ready within 15 days.
The authorities must also identify land -- 3 cents in rural areas and 2 cents in urban areas -- for the homeless. He recommended building of shared housing for larger families and ensuring phased funding for completing the NTR housing schemes.
Saying that Rs 919 crore in housing funds would reach 273,709 beneficiaries soon, Naidu said, under PMAY-Urban, PMAY-Gramin, and PM Janman, a total of 1,859,504 homes were sanctioned. Of these, 951,351 have been completed.
He said that this year alone, 281,000 new homes have been built, and another 19,000 could be ready by next month. The government has allocated Rs 2,013.50 crore for housing projects this year.
Naidu said, “In 4,305 layouts, more than 50 per cent of homes are complete with infrastructure upgrades such as roads, drainage lines etc. These would require an additional Rs 3,296.58 crore. In the Kuppam constituency, Rs 16.37 crore has been disbursed to 4,647 beneficiaries. Some Rs 919.29 crore would soon be transferred to 273,709 beneficiaries statewide.”
Further allocations include Rs 100 crore for 15,753 homes under the PM Janman and Rs 75 crore for 15,582 homes under PMAY-Gramin, he said.
The officials informed the CM that under PMAY-Urban, 184,510 beneficiaries have yet to begin construction though they have been listed for constructions. Regarding TIDCO houses, they explained that tenders were called for 454,706 TIDCO houses across 104 municipalities in 2018. Of these, 177,546 units were completed.
Among these homes, layouts consist of 45,848 units (300 sq ft), 12,550 units (365 sq ft) and 25,172 units (430 sq ft), totalling 83,570 completed homes. The construction on the remaining 84,094 TIDCO homes was now in its final phase, they said.
