Anitha Highlights Development, Anti-Drug Measures at Vizianagaram Event
Minister says Eagle Team, industries and welfare schemes are boosting North Andhra

Visakhapatnam: State home minister and Vizianagaram district in-charge minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Monday said the coalition government had taken measures to curb drug abuse, create employment opportunities and accelerate development in North Andhra.
Addressing the district-level “Two Years of Trust – Development and Welfare” celebrations at the Police Parade Ground in Vizianagaram, Anitha said the government had constituted the Eagle Team soon after assuming office to strengthen action against narcotics.
She said stringent action, including registration of criminal cases and seizure of properties, would be taken against those involved in drug trafficking.
The minister said nearly 10,000 youth in Vizianagaram district had secured employment through job fairs conducted by the government. She said major projects, including the proposed Google Data Centre, Bhogapuram International Airport, expansion of the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited steel plant and other upcoming industries, would generate employment and contribute to the region’s economic growth.
Anitha also highlighted the government’s welfare initiatives and said Andhra Pradesh was providing some of the highest social security pensions in the country. She urged youth to stay away from drugs and contribute to the state’s development.
The celebrations, organised under the theme “Drug-Free State”, featured awareness stalls and cultural programmes showcasing the coalition government’s initiatives over the past two years.
MSME minister Kondapalli Srinivas, addressing the gathering, alleged that the previous government had failed to curb the spread of ganja and narcotics. He said the government was focusing on industrial growth and development initiatives to create employment opportunities in North Andhra.
Several ministers, MLAs, district officials and public representatives attended the programme.
