VIJAYAWADA: Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Saturday stressed the need to solve cases using state-of-the-art technology and ensure speedy conviction of offenders in the New Year.

She chaired a state-level crime review meeting that focused on crime prevention, detection, convictions and expediting investigations. Senior police officers reviewed the number of cases registered, progress in investigations and measures required to curb crime effectively.

The minister discussed emerging challenges such as cybercrime, misuse of cryptocurrency, blockchain-related offences and deepfake technology, and reviewed steps needed to prevent such crimes.

Later, 12 police officers were felicitated for exemplary performance in crime detection. The minister urged them to continue their good work and serve as role models for others.

Several All India Service officers and expert academicians also participated in the meeting and emphasised the need for a coordinated action plan involving all stakeholders to control crime in the state.

CID DG Dr Ravi Sankar, legal adviser Lakshmanan Rao and 10 CID SPs were present.
