Angolan ambassador celebrates Peace and National Reconciliation Day at Andhra University
The visitors joined Angolan students in celebrating Peace and National Reconciliation Day, a national festival commemorating the end of Angola's 27-year civil war in 2002.

Visakhapatnam: Clemente Camenha, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to India, visited Andhra University on Saturday to celebrate Peace and National Reconciliation Day with Angolan students. He was accompanied by his wife, Maria, and Minister Counsellor Abel Mavungo. The Ambassador thanked Vice-Chancellor Prof G.P. Rajasekhar for providing excellent educational facilities to the 46 Angolan students studying across various departments.
During their meeting at the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Prof Rajasekhar felicitated the dignitaries with a shawl and memento, emphasising Andhra University’s legacy of academic excellence and its commitment to fostering global partnerships. He assured continued support for Angolan students in both academic and day-to-day needs, reiterating the university's dedication to strengthening Indo-Angolan educational and cultural collaboration.
Earlier, the delegation was warmly received by Prof S. Paul Douglas and Prof N.M. Yugandhar at the Office of the Dean, International Affairs. Angolan students showcased their patriotism and pride by performing national anthems, reciting poems, singing songs, and sharing reflections on the significance of peace. A video highlighting Angola’s post-civil war development was presented. Ambassador Camenha delivered an inspiring speech, urging students to excel academically and bring glory to their homeland. He also conveyed the President of Angola’s wishes to the student community.
