Andhra Pradesh: VMRDA Opens Zonal Office In Vizianagaram

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) on Tuesday inaugurated its zonal office in Vizianagaram, aiming to decentralise urban planning and improve service delivery in the region.
VMRDA chairman M.V. Pranav Gopal inaugurated the office and later participated in a Praja Darbar, where he received public grievances and reviewed development priorities for the district.
Announcing a series of infrastructure initiatives, Pranav Gopal said VMRDA had allocated nearly Rs 28 crore over the past two years for development works in Vizianagaram and Nellimarla municipalities. Of this, around Rs 16 crore has been earmarked for Vizianagaram Municipality to strengthen civic infrastructure.
Among the major projects is the widening of the Seetham College–JNTU Master Plan Road to 80 feet along a 1.45-km stretch at an estim ated cost of ₹7.20 crore to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion.
The chairman said nearly Rs 1 crore was spent last year on the development of Gandhi Park and PSR Park. During the current financial year, Rs 10 crore has already been released for roads, drains and culvert works, while another Rs 5 crore will be sanctioned after the ongoing works are completed.
For Nellimarla Municipality, VMRDA has allocated around Rs 4 crore for civic infrastructure projects.
Pranav Gopal also announced plans to develop a model park in Vizianagaram on the lines of Visakhapatnam's VUDA Park, subject to the availability of suitable land.
He said the establishment of the zonal office would facilitate faster implementation of development projects, improve coordination with local bodies and enhance public access to VMRDA services.
