Andhra Pradesh: Two Held With MDMA Worth ₹30,000 In Nellore

During interrogation, police identified the alleged involvement of Shaik Imran, 28, also from Guntur, and arrested him: Reports

NELLORE: Venkatachelam police arrested two persons allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of MDMA and seized around 10 grams of the synthetic drug, valued at about ₹30,000, along with two mobile phones.

Acting on a tip-off, police checked a Sri Krishna Travels bus travelling from Bengaluru to Guntur around 2.30 am on September 19. During the search, Bontha Nithin, 27, of Guntur, was allegedly found carrying the MDMA.

During interrogation, police identified the alleged involvement of Shaik Imran, 28, also from Guntur, and arrested him.

Police registered a case at Venkatachelam police station under Section 8(c) read with Section 20(b)(ii)(c) of the NDPS Act, 1985, and launched further investigation.

Police said surveillance and checks on suspicious persons, vehicles and transportation routes had been intensified across the district to curb drug trafficking and protect youth from substance abuse.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Nellore Town ASP Deeksha and the direction of district SP Dr Ajitha Vejendla.
