Andhra Pradesh: Three Arrested, Two Minors Detained in Ganja Trafficking Case

According to sub-inspector R. Narasimha Murthy, who filed the complaint, the accused were apprehended while walking from Brahmanatarla village towards Kambrigam bridge, carrying a sack containing the contraband.

Visakhapatnam: Srikakulam district police arrested three persons and detained two juveniles after intercepting them with 3.7 kilograms of ganja at Palasa.

The operation, conducted by personnel of Kasibugga police station, resulted in the arrest of Sahu Anand (21), Behara Ramesh (19), and a person identified as Pappu from Berhampur in Odisha. Two minors, aged 16, were also detained in connection with the case.

According to sub-inspector R. Narasimha Murthy, who filed the complaint, the accused were apprehended while walking from Brahmanatarla village towards Kambrigam bridge, carrying a sack containing the contraband.

Police said the group had been operating a small-scale trafficking network for about one year. The accused, who are neighbours from nearby villages and former schoolmates at Brahmanatarla High School, allegedly established contact with an Odisha-based supplier and procured ganja from Berhampur, transporting it to Palasa for retail sale in small packets.

A case has been registered under Sections 20(b)(ii)(B) read with 8(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
