TIRUPATI: Fifteen people were injured after a stray dog attacked several villagers at Kudumuladinnepadu in Kaligiri mandal of Nellore district in the early hours of Friday.
According to sources, the dog reportedly went on a biting spree near a tea stall on the main road, attacking people who had gathered there and others in the surrounding area. The sudden attacks triggered panic among the villagers.
The injured were taken to the Community Health Centre at Vinjamur, where they were given first aid and provided with medical advice.
Locals said stray dog attacks had become a concern in the village in recent days. They alleged that the panchayat had failed to take adequate measures to control the stray dog population.
The villagers urged the officials to trace and capture the dog suspected to have attacked the people and take immediate steps to prevent further incidents. They also sought measures to control the stray dog menace in the village.
