Andhra Pradesh ST Commission Reviews Status of Polavaram R&R Implementation

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Scheduled Tribes Commission chairman D.V.G. Sankara Rao on Tuesday reviewed the implementation of rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) measures for families affected by the Polavaram irrigation project.

The commission discussed various issues that came to its attention during an earlier visit to the project site. It noted that the R&R process, which was originally supposed to be completed by 2022, remains incomplete for several reasons. Officials were instructed to expedite the implementation of rehabilitation for affected families.
