Visakhapatnam: Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Kondapalli Srinivas said the state’s sport policy has set an example for others.
Addressing the participants at the third National Taekwondo Training Seminar at the Rajiv Sports Ground in Vizianagaram on Tuesday, Srinivas said the state has provided three per cent reservation for sportsmen in job vacancies under the new policy and creating large-scale infrastructure facilities for sports.
“We are giving top priority to studies as well as sports,’’ the Srinivas said.
The minister said that human resources are the assets of the country. He hoped that every student excels in sports along with studies and become a source of pride for the state and the region.
He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been giving immense importance to sports. He said the government has appointed physical education teachers in every school and proposed to set up sports grounds in every district. Efforts are being made to set up a sports university in the state, the minister added and urged the students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the government and become great sportsmen.
He inspected the training being given to the players and spoke to the coaches and players from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Taekwondo district association president Gurana Ayyalu, state secretary C.H. Venugopal, international athlete and taekwondo coach Abbas Sheki, Telangana state taekwondo association secretary K. Srihari, Makkuv Sridhar and other dignitaries, coaches and sportspersons participated in the programme.
