Andhra Pradesh: Seven Fishermen Stranded Near Antarvedi Rescued

VIJAYAWADA: Seven fishermen from Kakinada were rescued and brought safely ashore near Narasapuram in West Godavari district in the early hours of Wednesday after their fishing boat got stranded near Antarvedi Sagara Sangamam.
According to Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district fisheries joint director K. Karunakar Rao, the fishermen were on a fishing trip when a rope became entangled in the propeller of their Sona boat, causing it to break down. The boat drifted and became stuck in a sand dune near Antarvedi Sagara Sangamam on Tuesday evening.
A fishing boat sent to rescue them also became stranded. Fisheries officials advised the seven fishermen to reach the shore, about 100 metres away towards Narasapuram, but they refused to leave their boat, fearing it could be swept away.
Despite three hours of persuasion, they did not agree to swim to the shore through the shallow waters. Fisheries officials then alerted the revenue and marine police in Narasapuram.
With the help of local fishermen, the officials reached the stranded men and brought them safely ashore by swimming through the shallow waters, bringing relief to the district administration.
