Andhra Pradesh: Rentapalla deputy sarpanch dies by suicide
Vijayawada: A pall of grief has descended over Rentapalla village in Sattenapalli following the suspected suicide of Nagamalleswara Rao, the village's deputy sarpanch. Rao, a known YSRC supporter, was 40 years old.
Reports suggest that Rao may have lost money in a bet placed on the YSRC's victory in the recent elections. The details of this alleged bet, however, are yet to be confirmed by authorities.
The deceased’s father has reportedly made accusations of police harassment contributing to Rao's suicide.
Following the post-mortem examination, YSRC cadres and supporters organised a procession as Rao's body was transported to his native village for final rites.
To prevent any untoward incidents in the wake of Rao’s death, additional police personnel have been deployed in Rentapalla to maintain order until the conclusion of the funeral ceremonies.
