Andhra Pradesh: Rain Forecast For Coastal AP, Fishermen Asked Not To Venture Out

The weather system is very likely to move west–northwestwards and cross north Odisha coast between Chandbali and Digha close to Balasore during the next 24 hours, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Under its influence, light to moderate rain is likely across north coastal Andhra Pradesh, with isolated heavy rainfall expected over the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, and Alluri Sitarama Raju.

Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, are likely at isolated places, especially over Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Squally winds of 45–55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph, are expected along and off the north Andhra Pradesh coast until the morning of Monday.

The sea will remain rough to very rough along the north Andhra coast through the next 24 hours, becoming rough thereafter. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until conditions improve.

In north coastal Andhra, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and Anakapalli districts are likely to get intermittent moderate to heavy rain, strong winds, rough sea conditions, and localised waterlogging. East Godavari and Kakinada region will also have light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells.

Central and south coastal Andhra have received scattered light to moderate showers with isolated thunderstorms. Rayalaseema experienced scattered rain and thunderstorms, though the depression has not had any major impact on it.
