Andhra Pradesh: Private Bus Operators Thank Coalition For Tax Relief

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Private Bus Owners Welfare Association on Tuesday held a thanksgiving meeting in Vijayawada to thank the coalition government after the State Cabinet approved a reduction in the quarterly tax on inter-state private buses from ₹4,000 to ₹2,500.
Transport, Youth and Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy attended the meeting at Srujana Kalyana Avenue as the chief guest.
Association representatives welcomed the decision, saying the tax reduction would provide significant relief to tourist and private bus operators. They praised the minister for pursuing the long-pending demand and thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for facilitating the decision.
Addressing the gathering, Ramprasad Reddy said the coalition government was committed to the development of the transport sector and to resolving issues faced by private bus operators. He said the government had taken up the matter with the Chief Minister and secured a favourable decision on the tax reduction.
The minister urged private operators to give top priority to road safety and assured them that the government would continue to address issues affecting the transport sector. He also announced that terminals for private operators would be established under the Build-Own-Transfer (BOT) model to strengthen transport infrastructure.
Later, Ramprasad Reddy unveiled the new logo of the Andhra Pradesh Private Bus Owners Welfare Association. Association president Gautham Kiran, office-bearers and members attended the programme.
