Andhra Pradesh: PIT-NDPS Act Invoked Against Habitual Ganja Smuggler
Police said he is a habitual offender with multiple cases and has been actively involved in ganja trafficking from the agency areas of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Visakhapatnam districts

With government approval, he was booked under the PIT-NDPS Act and lodged in Kadapa Central Jail.
Nellore: As part of its intensified drive to make Nellore district drug- and ganja-free, the district police have invoked the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 (PIT-NDPS Act) against a habitual ganja offender, superintendent of police Dr Ajitha Vajendla said on Monday.
In a press release, the SP said strict action was being taken against those involved in the transport, sale and consumption of drugs and ganja, warning that repeat offenders would be booked under preventive detention laws to safeguard public order.
Under the supervision of Nellore Town ASP Deeksha, Balaji Nagar police arrested Beeraka Prakash alias Surya Prakash, 51, a native of East Godavari district, in August 2025 while he was transporting 22 kg of ganja in a car on NH-16 near SVGS College grounds. The accused allegedly attempted to run over police personnel to escape but was overpowered. Police seized the contraband and the vehicle.
