Andhra Pradesh: One year RI for RTC driver

Visakhapatnam: Chief Judicial Magistrate M. Pradeep Kumar on Thursday sentenced APSRTC driver Yedla Govinda Rao to one year rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 8,000 (in default two months imprisonment) for causing death of a bike rider by driving the bus in rash negligent manner.

According to assistant public prosecutor Mylipalli APP Mylapilli Adinarayana, the accused drove his APSRTC bus on April 14, 2023, from I Town to Town Kotha Road area in high speed and without blowing horn, causing the death of Surada Naresh who was riding his bike on the left side of the road near Velampeta bus stop. The deceased’s mother Surada Chinna Thalli lodged a complaint with the I Town police station sub-inspector J. Puroshotham. The sub-inspector investigation the accident and filed a chargesheet.
Prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt against the accused under Section 304A IPC following which the judicial magistrate pronounced the judgment.
