The entire process was video-recorded to ensure transparency: Reports

VIJAYAWADA: The state government does not follow any zonal system in appointing archakas, vedic scholars, attendants and other religious staff in major temples, endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy told the Assembly on Tuesday.
He said 172 of the 344 posts recently filled were in major temples in Rayalaseema, including those at Srisailam, Mahanandi, Srikalahasti and Kanipakam. Appointments were made based on knowledge of the Vedas and Agamas, qualifications and merit, irrespective of the candidates’ region.
Around 1,400 candidates attended the interviews, while 1,431 applications were received from Rayalaseema, with 172 candidates securing appointments. The entire process was video-recorded to ensure transparency.
Minister Anam said Zone-IV had 440 posts, of which 245 had been filled, while 147 remained vacant. He said the government would fill the vacancies as per rules, ensuring the appointment of qualified personnel for Agama-compliant temple services.
