Andhra Pradesh Neta Natter | Naidu Tags Vicious Monikers To YSRC

Naidu’s new nomenclature for the YSRC came at a TD cluster in-charges meeting at NTR Bhavan during which he cautioned party cadres to stay alert as the Opposition had a pattern of committing crimes and pinning the blame on rivals

As political jabs go, these could cut deep. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s anointing not one, but two unflattering labels for the YSRC, calling it an ‘Axe Party’ and a ‘Killer Party’, is expected to result in some sabre-rattling from the other side. Naidu’s new nomenclature for the YSRC came at a TD cluster in-charges meeting at NTR Bhavan during which he cautioned party cadres to stay alert as the Opposition had a pattern of committing crimes and pinning the blame on rivals. As proof, he recalled attempts to implicate him in the murder of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy and hinted at similar conspiracies in other cases. Not stopping there, in a veiled dig at Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu remarked that a party often reflected its leader — a comment that is sure to keep tempers on the edge. The bottom line? Naidu warned TD leaders that even a slight lapse could land them in trouble as the nature of politics was changing with the era of intellectual debates giving way to rowdy elements.

Land row stalls Anna canteen

In what appears to be a proverbial case of so near yet so far, an Anna canteen in Salur, with everything ready to start dishing out meals at subsidised rates, is yet to open its shutters. The canteen, on which Rs 60 lakh was spent to construct, on a patch of government land near the local tahsildar’s office, was meant to serve affordable meals to tribal communities, students, and vendors. Minister G. Sandhyarani initiated construction in August 2024, but a private claim stalled the inauguration. Officials insist the land is government-owned, while hearings continue at Bobbili court. While the delay has sparked a debate over the accountability of revenue officials, locals await the canteen’s launch and some fresh hot meals.

A fight over free food… who will serve it first

It doesn’t take much for a political squabble to break out. And the other day, all it took was Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s birthday celebrations with followers of Palakonda MLA Nimmaka Jayakrishna and Palakonda Assembly constituency in charge Padala Bhudevi clashing over who will serve food to the people first at an Anna Canteen. Bhudevi’s flowers performed a puja at a temple and then went to Anna Canteen to serve food but Jayakrishna’s followers obstructed them resulting in a clash much to the amusement of those gathered to grab a free meal. In another incident, former MLA S.V.S.N. Varma of TD and Jana Sena leader Pendem Dorababu fought over a protocol issue in Pithapuram constituency, something that even reached Naidu.

Prasanthi gets top job, her fans want more

In a move that surprised many, Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prasanthi Reddy — a relatively new entrant to politics — has been elevated to the TD politburo. While party insiders hail it as significant recognition, her supporters appear underwhelmed, having expected nothing short of a Cabinet berth, what with her husband Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy being the MP from Nellore, and believed to have the ear of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh. Her quick rise has put a spotlight on her but with heavyweights like P. Narayana and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy occupying Cabinet space from the district, the leap to a ministerial post proved a step too far. After all, according to party insiders, a politburo position isn’t exactly a small prize for a newcomer.

Nagababu takes his ire out on people

It’s all about expectations. And seeing them come crashing down and losing his cool the other day was Jana Sena MLC K. Nagababu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s brother who, incidentally, is not unknown for displays of impatience toward fans and party workers. Nagababu was in Pithapuram for an event following which he sat down with his party workers who voiced grievances complaining about local TD leaders to which Nagababu’s solution was that such issues would be addressed by the party high command. What followed was a slew of pleas for local development projects like the construction of drainages, kalyana mandapam, and community halls among others. An apparently fed up Nagababu expressed his outrage, asking why none in the gathering inquired about Pawan Kalyan’s health. For good measure he gave them a tongue-lashing on how none seems to be concerned about Pawan Kalyan’s well-being, leaving many in the gathering wondering if seeking sympathy for the Deputy CM was the purpose of the meeting.

Revanth’s breakfast gives BJP acidity

Delhi served up more than just breakfast that morning — it plated a surprise political brunch. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy walked into Union minister Bhupatiraju Srinivasa Varma’s informal gathering with an appetite for more than idlis and diplomacy. Between polite smiles and clinking cups, he pitched two big-ticket asks: a green steel plant in Bayyaram and a fleet of electric buses for Telangana. Soon after, he doubled down with a formal note to Union heavy industries minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. But while Revanth was busy making his case, ripples were forming elsewhere. His presence at a table sprinkled with NDA leaders didn’t go down well with Telangana BJP MPs, who claimed they had no clue that such a meet was even on the menu. Andhra Pradesh BJP MPs were already seated and settled, adding to the irritation. The real eyebrow-raiser, though, was BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr K. Laxman sharing the same table with Revanth. For Telangana BJP leaders, that image lingered longer than the breakfast itself — sparking murmurs that refused to cool.

Why KCR kept KTR, Harish out of his meeting

Where are they? This can’t be possible. Can K. Chandrashekar Rao hold a public meeting with K.T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao not in sight? KCR’s return to public and his speech at a public meeting in Jagtial saw two of his top lieutenants being conspicuously absent. Though the party explained that KTR was unwell from a heat stroke, and Harish was sent to Delhi for some discussions with lawyers, the buzz on their absence did not stop. Was this also a sign that KCR is getting back into form, and despite the circumstances surrounding KTR and Harish missing from the public meeting, sending a signal that he is still the boss, was the question doing the rounds.
