Andhra Pradesh: Minister Chairs NTR DRC Meet, Focuses on Public Issues
Vijayawada: NTR district in-charge minister and health minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav said the District Review Committee (DRC) meeting discussed several public issues and reiterated the NDA alliance state government’s priority to improve the living standards of people in the district.
Satya Kumar Yadav chaired the DRC meeting at the Farmers' Training Centre Hall, located on the premises of the irrigation department compound in Vijayawada on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), along with government whips Tangirala Sowmya and Yarlagadda Venkatrao, as well as Mylavaram, Jaggaiahpet, and Tiruvuru MLAs Vasanta Venkata Krishna Prasad, Sriram Raja Gopal Tatiah, and Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao. NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha, VMC commissioner HM Dhyanchandra, and other district authorities also participated to discuss and review several developmental projects in the district.
Speaking to the media, Satya Kumar Yadav commended the efforts of the district authorities in providing financial assistance to the victims of the recent Budameru floods in record time. He stated that the district authorities had been directed to expedite work on the safe drinking water project to ensure potable water for people affected by CKD diseases in the A. Konduru mandal.
Drawing attention to farmers' issues, Satya Kumar Yadav said officials were instructed to create awareness among farmers about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana scheme and to set up procurement centres to buy paddy, cotton, and other crops, regardless of their percentage of water content. He also directed authorities to take measures to expedite the pending lift irrigation projects and complete them promptly for the benefit of the farming community.
Highlighting the growing significance of Vijayawada due to rapid development under the Amaravati capital region, Satya Kumar Yadav emphasised the need for an infrastructure overhaul and improved amenities to meet the demands of the increasing population. He instructed authorities to devise plans to provide employment opportunities in the city through new industrial, MSME, and tourism development policies. Additionally, he directed officials to ensure adequate walking spaces for citizens and to explore the possibility of allowing walkers access to private educational institutions' grounds in the city.
