Andhra Pradesh Launches Year-Long Tourism Campaign

Tourism minister Kandula Durgesh called upon tourism stakeholders to work collectively for the development of the sector and help place Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of tourism in India

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday launched an ambitious year-long tourism promotion campaign titled “Holiday in Andhra Pradesh” with the aim of positioning the State as a premier tourism destination in the country.
Launching the campaign poster during a virtual review meeting at the Secretariat in Amaravati, Tourism minister Kandula Durgesh called upon tourism stakeholders to work collectively for the development of the sector and help place Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of tourism in India.
The minister said the State government, under the guidance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to strengthen domestic sectors amid prevailing global uncertainties, was taking several initiatives to accelerate tourism growth.
Durgesh said the government was focusing on holiday tourism, temple tourism and destination weddings as part of its broader tourism strategy. He noted that encouraging weddings within India would help conserve foreign exchange while boosting the local economy.
Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s tourism potential, the minister said destinations such as Gandikota, Araku Valley, Visakhapatnam and Konaseema had the potential to attract tourists from across the country and abroad.
He said the campaign aims to create awareness and promote tourism-driven economic activity, generating employment opportunities for local youth while benefiting hotels, homestays, transport operators and allied sectors.
The minister further said the government was taking steps to provide hassle-free travel experiences through airport-to-airport tourism packages and improved infrastructure at tourist destinations.
Durgesh also announced that Andhra Pradesh would receive the “Tourism Promotion City” award on June 4, describing it as a matter of pride for the State and recognition of its growing tourism prominence.
Special chief secretary Ajay Jain, APTDC in-charge managing director Padmavathi, deputy CEO Srinivasa Rao, executive director Seshagiri Rao and other stakeholders participated in the meeting.
