Andhra Pradesh Launches Quantum Testing Facilities, Signals Push in Global Quantum Race
He added that efforts are under way at the national level to build skilled human resources in quantum technologies.

Vijayawada: Marking World Quantum Day, Andhra Pradesh has launched advanced quantum testing and reference facilities, signalling its entry into the global quantum technology race, Union Science and Technology Secretary Abhay Karandikar said.
He said the new facilities will support indigenous quantum hardware development and serve as a benchmark for certification. He noted that quantum computing is expected to drive innovation across sectors including communication, precision sensing, finance and design. He added that efforts are under way at the national level to build skilled human resources in quantum technologies, with Andhra Pradesh emerging as a contributor in developing expertise.
Principal Scientific Adviser Ajay Kumar Sood described the initiative as a step towards self-reliance in quantum technology. He said Amaravati has the potential to evolve into a hub for artificial intelligence and quantum innovation, and called for accelerated skilling to replicate India’s success in IT within the quantum sector.
Officials said the establishment of “Quantum Valley” in Amaravati reflects the State’s focus on strengthening technological infrastructure in emerging fields. The facilities are expected to support domestic hardware development and broader innovation ecosystems.
SRM University Vice-Chancellor Dr Ch. Satish Kumar said the initiative would place Amaravati on the global technology map and strengthen advanced research in the region.
