Andhra Pradesh: KADA Signs Two MoUs To Promote Modern Farming In Kuppam

The MoU with the ITC is to develop fruit and vegetable clusters, apart from creating marketing opportunities for farmers of the area in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad: Reports

TIRUPATI: Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA) signed on Sunday two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to introduce advanced farming practices in the Kuppam area and improve market access for farmers in the region.

The MoU with the ITC is to develop fruit and vegetable clusters, apart from creating marketing opportunities for farmers of the area in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

The other MoU that KADA signed is with Visalakshi Innovations Sustainable Value Chain to encourage farmers into adopting modern agricultural methods.

Interacting with Kuppam farmers after the signing of the agreements, Chandrababu Naidu said the use of advanced farming practices, technology, and improved marketing facilities would help farmers achieve better yields and higher income.

He said ITC has come forward to cultivate tomatoes under controlled environment conditions, with a target to produce 10,000 tonnes for exports. The company plans to take up cultivation in 1,000 acres and invest ₹8 crore to develop the required infrastructure, the AP CM disclosed.

He pointed out that Kuppam is attracting investments in sectors such as poultry, dairy, and food processing, with projects worth around ₹10,000 crore in the pipeline. Reputed companies, including ABIS, Mother Dairy, and ITC, have come forward to invest in the region, he stated.

Reiterating that Rayalaseema has emerged as a leading region in horticulture production, Chandrababu Naidu said projects worth ₹1 lakh crore would be implemented in the area through public and private investments. He disclosed that while the government would focus on roads, irrigation projects, and infrastructure, the private sector would invest in food processing units.

The Chief Minister said steps would be taken to extract gold deposits in Chigargunta in Chittoor district.
