Andhra Pradesh Hailed as Role Model in Energy Conservation

Srivastava said energy conservation must become a way of life, stressing that responsible energy use helps preserve natural resources for future generations and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

Vijayawada: The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has lauded Andhra Pradesh as a role model State for its consistent performance in energy conservation, as the National Energy Conservation Week (December 14 to 20) and the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 concluded successfully.

BEE director general Dhiraj Kumar Srivastava urged States to sustain momentum in the National Energy Conservation Movement to support India’s Sustainable Development Goals and climate commitments. He noted that Andhra Pradesh has won National Energy Conservation Awards consistently since 2015, including for the last four consecutive years, setting new benchmarks in adopting global energy-efficient technologies.

The state was particularly appreciated for its collaboration with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of Central PSUs under the Ministry of Power, to integrate advanced energy-efficiency solutions.

Srivastava said energy conservation must become a way of life, stressing that responsible energy use helps preserve natural resources for future generations and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

BEE secretary Milind Deore said NECA 2025 reflects India’s commitment to a clean and sustainable future, recognising States, industries and institutions that balance economic growth with environmental protection.

Several States, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, Punjab, Haryana, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, were commended for demonstrating innovation and efficiency in energy use.
