Andhra Pradesh Govt Releases Rs 90 Crore for Imams and Muezzins Within 24 Hours of CM Naidu’s Assurance
Minority welfare minister N.M.D. Farooq said the government order authorising the fund release was issued by state finance secretary Vadrevu Vinay Chand.

Vijayawada: In a swift move reflecting the coalition government’s commitment to minority welfare, the Andhra Pradesh government has released Rs 90 crore towards the payment of honorariums for imams and muezzins across the state.
The release came on Wednesday, just 24 hours after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made a public assurance during the Minority Welfare Day celebrations at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram on Tuesday.
Minority welfare minister N.M.D. Farooq said the government order authorising the fund release was issued by state finance secretary Vadrevu Vinay Chand. The amount will clear pending dues for April, May, and June 2024 left unpaid by the previous administration — and also covers honorariums from January to September 2025, combining nine months of payments and arrears in a single tranche.
Farooq thanked Chief Minister Naidu for fulfilling his commitment in record time and praised the NDA coalition for prioritising minority welfare, noting that Naidu has consistently championed minority empowerment since the days of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
