Andhra Pradesh Governor Holds Interfaith Meet amid Indo-Pak Hostilities

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer convened an interfaith meeting with different religious heads and civil society leaders at the Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan here on Saturday. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM K. Pawan Kalyan, Home minister V. Anitha and senior officers of the government participated in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Nazeer described as barbaric the April 22 incident in Pahalgam of Jammu & Kashmir in which terrorists killed 26 tourists were killed. He pointed out that in response, the Indian armed forces launched on May 7 Operation Sindoor to dismantle terrorist infrastructure. The country’s armed forces organised strikes on nine terrorist locations with surgical precision, strategic restraint and exemplary courage.

The Governor said the measured response demonstrated India’s strength and decisive action, while avoiding unnecessary escalation. “Public representatives, leaders of all religious communities, and members of civil society have jointly affirmed their wholehearted support for the Indian Armed Forces and the Union Government in their mission to protect our nation from terrorism and aggression. People of the state honour the courage and sacrifice of our brave soldiers and their devotion to safeguarding our nation,” Abdul Nazeer underlined.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said people, irrespective of religion, caste, creed and region, have condemned the dastardly act of terrorists, while standing united behind the Indian government and security forces, which have taken the necessary actions for protecting the Indian people and the nation.

Numerous religious heads spoke at the interfaith meeting, including Maulana Hussain Ahmad Majhari of Jamait Ulema-e-Hind, Farooq Shubli of Minority Hakkula Parirakshana Samiti, Mufti Farooq of Ulema Council of India, Harmohinder Singh Sahni of Minority Rights Protection Committee, Gurjith Singh Sahni of Gurudwara Sri Gurusingh Sabha, Jayaraju of Ambapura Church of South India, Rev. Mohan Rao of G. Konduru Church of South India, Rev. Karunanidhi of Vijayawada Church of South India, AP Federation of Churches, Pilli Surendra Babu of The Buddhist Society of India and Samata Sainik Dal, Veerabhatla Arun of NTR District Brahmana Sadhikara Samiti, Vedantam Naikanta of Kondinya Sanathana Samiti Trust, Deepak Desai of Gujarati Jains Association, Vijayawada, and Dinesh Kumar Peshwani of Vijayawada Pujya Sindhi Panchayat.

Officials who participated in the meeting included K. Vijayanand, Chief Secretary, Harish Kumar Gupta, DGP, M.
