Andhra Pradesh: Four Days for Voters To Verify Electoral Rolls From August 22

The CEO called upon the districts to accelerate the hearing process and streamline disposal of claims and objections filed under SIR as per the norms of the Election Commission.

Vijayawada: A special campaign will be held on August 22, 23, 29 and 30 at all polling stations in Andhra Pradesh for voters to verify electoral rolls, forms etc, the state’s Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav has announced.

The CEO along with additional CEO Dilli Rao conducted a video conference from his office at the Secretariat here on Thursday with district collectors/election officers and reviewed the progress in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

The meeting reviewed matters related to claims and objections, delivery of notices to the electors who were not mapped and electors having discrepancies in mapping, disposal of hearings of SIR, pendency of Book a Call with BLOs and other complaints received on the National Grievance Services Portal.

The CEO called upon the districts to accelerate the hearing process and streamline disposal of claims and objections filed under SIR as per the norms of the Election Commission.

He said electoral registration officers (EROs) were having quasi-judicial power for disposal of claims and objections and hearings, and asked them to act accordingly and ensure no inconvenience is caused to any individual voter.

The CEO felt the need for DLOs to ensure that the list of claims and objections in Form-9, 10, 11, 11A and 11B are generated and uploaded on the CEO website and on a daily basis. These lists would be shared with the political parties on a weekly basis.

Yadav laid stress on enrolment of youths in the electoral rolls by organising special camps in colleges and educational institutions to ensure maximum of their electoral involvement.

Additional CEO Dilli Rao explained how to upload the documents either produced by the electors at the time of hearings or collected by the BLOs in the BLO-App. He urged all the DEOs to ensure the BLO-App is utilised for uploading documents.
