Andhra Pradesh: Election of 5 MLCs from AP MLAs’ quota on March 20

Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the schedule for conduct of the biennial elections to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council by MLAs of the AP Legislative Assembly.

Vijayawada: Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the schedule for conduct of the biennial elections to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council by MLAs of the AP Legislative Assembly.

In the election scheduled on March 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the MLAs will cast their votes to elect five MLCs from the assembly quota.
As per the schedule, notification for the biennial elections will be issued on March 3. The last date for filing of nominations is March 10. Scrutiny of nominations will be on March 11. Last date for withdrawal of candidatures is March 13. Polling will be held on March 20. Counting of votes will be at the conclusion of the day’s polling at 5:00 p.m.
The Election Commission has decided to conduct the biennial elections as the term of five members of AP Legislative Council elected by the MLAs is due to expire on their retirement on March 29.
The members who are going to retire are Krishna Murthy Janga, Duvvarapu Rama Rao, Parchuri Ashok Babu, B. Tirumala Naidu and Ramakrishnudu Yanamala.
