Andhra Pradesh: Death toll rises to 2 in pharma plant gas leak

Visakhapatnam: The death toll from the pharmaceutical plant gas leak has risen to two. Shiva Shekhar, who was undergoing treatment at KIMS Hospital, succumbed to his injuries in the early morning hours. The condition of the other injured individuals is reported to be critical.

A gas leak at Tagoor Pharma Company in Parawada, Anakapalli district, resulted in the death of a 23-year-old worker and left several others hospitalized. The incident occurred late Tuesday night, causing breathing difficulties for nine employees, with two currently in critical condition.
Anakapalli district collector Vijaya Krishnan stated that an FIR has been registered by the police, who will also investigate the incident. The safety audit team will submit a report detailing the lapses that led to the mishap, she added. Lok Sabha member from Anakapalli, Dr. C.M. Ramesh, said a high-level inquiry would be ordered, and the guilty would not be spared. He condoled the deaths of the two workers. Labour minister Vasamsetti Subhash is scheduled to visit the factory and meet with local government officials on Friday.
