VIJAYAWADA: Twenty Points Programme (Viksit Bharat–Swarna Andhra Pradesh) Implementation Chairman Lanka Dinakar on Saturday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending financial support to Andhra Pradesh, stating that the Centre's infrastructure initiatives were accelerating the state's development.
Welcoming the Union Cabinet’s approval of the ₹1,264-crore project to add third and fourth railway lines on the 46-km Guntakal-Ballari section, Dinakar said the project would improve passenger and freight connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
He also welcomed the Centre's approval of the ₹680-crore project to widen the Mudigubba-Kadiri stretch of National Highway-42 in Sri Sathya Sai district from two lanes to four lanes, saying it would strengthen the state’s road infrastructure.
Dinakar said Andhra Pradesh was witnessing rapid development in the railway, road and aviation sectors under the “double-engine government”. He said annual railway allocations to the state had increased from less than ₹650 crore before 2014 to ₹9,000-10,000 crore at present.
He said more than 70 railway stations were being modernised under the Amrit Bharat scheme, while the South Coast Railway Zone at Visakhapatnam was nearing completion.
The National Highway network in the state has expanded to around 9,000 km, he said, adding that the infrastructure projects would strengthen Andhra Pradesh's role in the Centre's Viksit Bharat vision and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Swarna Andhra Pradesh mission.
