Andhra Pradesh: Assembly Knowledge Tour Familiarises Students With Democratic Process

During the House recess, the Speaker interacted with the students and clarified their doubts about parliamentary procedures and the law-making process.

Vijayawada: The ongoing Assembly Vignana Yatra, aimed at creating awareness among students about the functioning of legislatures and the democratic system, continued to draw students on Thursday.

As many as 741 students from various educational institutions watched the live proceedings of the Legislative Assembly from the visitors’ gallery. Over the four days of the initiative, 2,716 students from 23 educational institutions have visited the Assembly and gained first-hand exposure to legislative proceedings.

As part of the programme, 180 students from Slate School, in the constituency of MLA Bode Prasad, met Legislative Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu along with MLAs Bode Prasad and Kamineni Srinivas.

During the House recess, the Speaker interacted with the students and clarified their doubts about parliamentary procedures and the law-making process.

Ayyanna Patrudu said special arrangements would be made to enable students to visit the Assembly premises on non-session days as well.

The students and teachers later posed for group photographs with the Speaker. The students said the opportunity to interact directly with public representatives was a rare and memorable experience.
