Andhra Pradesh: 250 Children Paint Their Vision Of Patriotism In Vijayawada

VIJAYAWADA: Patriotic themes came alive on canvas as around 250 children took part in a painting competition at the Bapu Museum in Vijayawada on Sunday as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
The event was jointly organised by Bright Minds and the Lions Club of Vanijya Vibhag. NTR district collector Dr G. Lakshmisha inaugurated the competition and interacted with the young participants as they worked on their paintings.
Dr Lakshmisha said painting and other art activities played an important role in nurturing patriotism, creativity and national spirit among children. He encouraged students to develop their creative abilities alongside academics.
The collector appreciated the children’s depiction of the national flag, national leaders and the spirit of freedom, saying such activities would strengthen their sense of nationalism. He also lauded the organisers for providing children with a platform to identify and showcase their talent.
The competition was held in four age groups, with participants portraying themes related to patriotism, the Tricolour, national leaders and Independence.
Prizes, certificates and mementoes were presented to outstanding participants. Those recognised included Richee Siddhartha, Sri Dhrithi, B. Abhinay and Skanda of Sharmock School; Tanmaya, Chaitra and Danvi of St John School; Aaradhya of NSM School; Vaishnavi of Next Gen School; Nikshitha of UPS; Rebika Joys and Midilesh of St Theresa School; and Ria, Naga Karthik and Diya Sri of RCM School, among others.
Prominent doctor Dr Lion Y.S. Babu, Bapu Museum commissioner Suresh Babu, Tagore Memorial Library Officer K. Ramadevi, UPPS faculty member Chandrika and Lions Club of Vanijya Vibhag representatives Srimannarayana, Prabhu and Poornima presented the awards. All participants received certificates.
