Andhra Medical College Associate Prof Suspended For Harassing PG Students

According to reports, the associate professor had allegedly subjected PG students who were studying in his class to verbal abuse and also sexually harassed female students.

Visakhapatnam: An Associate Professor in the General Surgery Department of Andhra Medical College in the city was suspended following allegations of harassment made by postgraduate medical students.

According to reports, Dr. K. Janardhan Rao had allegedly subjected PG students who were studying in his class to verbal abuse and also sexually harassed female students. Based on the complaints filed by the PG students, AMC Principal Dr. Sandhya Devi constituted an internal inquiry committee to examine the allegations. The committee recorded statements from the complainants and college staff and conducted a detailed inquiry into the matter.

The committee reportedly found the allegations to be true and submitted its findings to the Medical Education department. The DME Dr. Vishnuvardhan issued orders suspending the professor, and further action in terms of service rules would be taken if applicable.
