Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh logged its highest ever net GST collection for March at Rs 3,316 crore, clocking a growth rate of 10 per cent for the month, a senior government official has said. Overall GST collection rose by six per cent during 2025-26 fiscal, too, despite numerous structural and policy-related challenges, particularly the GST 2.0 reforms, he added.
While net GST collection stood at Rs 3,316 crore in March, gross GST collection excluding cess for the month accounted for Rs 3,773 crore, State's Taxes Chief Commissioner A Babu said in a press release issued on Wednesday.
"The state achieved an overall GST collection growth of six per cent for the financial year 2025-26, marking a significant accomplishment in the current economic environment," he said. Net GST collection in March 2025 was Rs 3,015 crore, he added.
Further, Babu observed that total revenue collections across all sectors reached Rs 4,889 crore in March 2026, up from Rs 4,690 crore a year ago.
Total GST collections across all sectors reached Rs 53,744 crore in the 2025-26 fiscal, compared to Rs 51,319 crore during the previous fiscal, indicating a growth of 4.73 per cent, he said.
Overall, Andhra Pradesh shows stable, above-average growth and better revenue performance compared to most neighbouring states, and effective tax administration, putting it in a favourable position both regionally and nationally, Babu said in the release.
Reflecting on GST 2.0 reforms, he said, although they were aimed at simplifying the tax system and improving ease of doing business, they led to a significant revenue decline because of the downward revision of tax rates and restructuring of slabs.
The estimated annual loss due to rate rationalisation in September 2026 was Rs 8,500 crore, Babu said, noting that the projected loss for the six months from October 25 to March 26 was approximately Rs 4,500 crore.
Further, he said the Andhra Pradesh Commercial Taxes Department (APCTD) has adopted an advanced AI and data analytics system, making tax administration more intelligent, efficient, and transparent.
