AP to Get PPP Hospitals in All Constituencies

Naidu called for formulating an action plan to establish 100 to 300-bedded hospitals.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has directed the health authorities to formulate an action plan for the setting up of one each multi-speciality hospitas with 100-300 beds in every assembly constituency, under public-private-partnership mode.

The CM held a review meeting with health minister Satya Kumar Yadav and senior officials from the health department at the Secretariat here on Friday.

He underscored the need to expand health care services in a big way. Hospitals with 100-bed strength are located in 70 constituencies at present, he noted, and called for setting up such a facility in the remaining 105 constituencies.

“We would formulate guidelines to provide a subsidy on lines of what is given to industries, to those who come forward to construct and maintain multi-speciality hospitals in PPP mode,” he said.

Naidu said, “We would also initiate a mega global medicity project in Amaravati, which would be developed at international standards.”

“Let us provide the best healthcare facilities with support from the Gates Foundation. There is also a need to provide primary healthcare facilities in virtual mode in primary and community health centres in case doctors are not available.”

The CM directed the officials to strengthen the 25 drug de-addiction centres at a cost of Rs 32.5 crore and set up 13 new centres.

He also referred to the Digital Nerve Centre developed by the Tata Consultancy Services in Kuppam and said this was of immense help to provide healthcare through the digital platform.

Health officials informed the CM that 4.47 crore people were issued ABHA cards (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) in the state, which was the highest in the country. Under Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adiwasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan for TB elimination, out of 882,693 tribals screened, only 5,072 tested positive to tuberculosis, they said.

As to the Sickle Cell Anaemia, out of 10.11 lakh tribals screened, 1,977 tested positive. Registration of birth and death has been done to the extent of 95.60 per cent; and 13.26 lakh Sishu Aadhar cards have been issued in the state, they said.
