AP CM Wants Sub-Group Of States On India’s GDP Growth

Addressing NITI Aayog meet, Chandrababu Naidu pushes for central PPP projects backed by VGF

Vijayawada:In a major proposal at the NITI Aayog governing council meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has suggested formation of three sub-groups, first for GDP growth, second for population management and the third for leveraging artificial intelligence (AI).

Significantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it a point to praise the blueprint of Chandrababu Naidu for the growth of Andhra Pradesh.

The PM said: "All states should examine and study the reforms of Andhra Pradesh. There could be a lot of inputs in the blueprint for growth projected by CM Naidu for other states.”

Addressing the meeting, the AP Chief Minister paid tribute to victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, honouring the 26 innocent lives lost. He lauded the Indian armed forces for their decisive Operation Sindoor. He commended Narendra Modi’s strong leadership during the crisis, emphasising India’s resilience and self-reliance.

The first sub-group that Chandrababu Naidu wanted to accelerate the country’s progress toward Viksit Bharat @2047 is for GDP growth, with emphasis on boosting investments, expanding manufacturing, accelerating exports and generating large-scale employment. He underlined the need for centre’s Viability Gap Funding (VGF) to support Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, which he described as key enablers for unlocking the next phase of high-growth development in India.

“The foundation for a Viksit Bharat by 2047 has already been laid under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister. Now, the right leadership can translate bold ambition into reality by channelizing India’s demographic strength, digital backbone, and global credibility,” the AP CM told the governing council meeting.

He emphasised that India’s time has come. “Transformation is no longer a dream — it is a mission in motion,” he underlined, reiterating Andhra Pradesh’s strong alignment with the national agenda, affirming “Viksit Andhra for Viksit Bharat.”

The Chief Minister spotlighted Swarna Andhra @2047, the state’s long-term growth roadmap launched on December 13, 2024, which envisions Andhra Pradesh becoming a $2.4 trillion economy with a per-capita income of $42,000, driven by a sustained 15 per cent plus annual growth rate.

Explaining key economic targets, Chandrababu Naidu pointed out that GSDP (Nominal) for FY 2024–25 (SAE) is $1.88 billion and the 2047 target is $2.4 trillion. GSDP per capita for FY 2024–25 is $3,148 and the 2047 target is $42,000, with the annual growth rate target being 15 per cent.

Reaffirming the state’s readiness to lead India’s transformation, the AP CM highlighted AP’s strategic advantages of abundant natural resources, fertile land, mineral wealth, long coastline and ecological diversity.

Regarding its geographic edge, Chandrababu Naidu explained that AP has the longest eastern coastline, acting as a strategic gateway to Southeast Asia. It has a young, skilled population that is a strong demographic dividend. Its Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities are rising, enabling inclusive growth and world-class IT hubs, robust digital infrastructure and a thriving start-up ecosystem.
