Ancient Undavalli Caves Host Yoga Session Ahead of International Yoga Day

The collector described yoga as a valuable cultural heritage that contributes to physical and mental well-being.

Vijayawada:As part of the run-up to International Yoga Day, the Guntur district administration on Tuesday organised a yoga session at the historic Undavalli Caves, with district collector C.M. Sai Kanth Varma urging people to incorporate yoga into their daily lives.

The programme, held at the popular tourist destination, saw participation from officials, youth and members of the public. The collector, along with joint-collector Ashutosh Srivastava and other district officials, took part in the session as trained instructors led participants through yoga postures and breathing exercises.

Addressing the gathering, Sai Kanth Varma called for the district’s International Yoga Day celebrations to be conducted on a large scale with widespread public participation. He said yoga benefits people of all age groups and appealed to citizens to join the celebrations in large numbers.

The collector described yoga as a valuable cultural heritage that contributes to physical and mental well-being. He said practices such as asanas and pranayama promote a healthy and disciplined lifestyle while encouraging awareness about nutrition, hydration and overall wellness.

He announced that another major yoga programme would be organised on June 13 at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Mangalagiri as part of the International Yoga Day celebrations.

District medical and health officer K. Vijayalakshmi, district tourism officer Ramya and other officials participated in the event.
