Anantapur SP Proposes Police Palle Nidra In View Of Civic Polls

Anantapur SP P. Jagadish directed police to identify sensitive areas and conduct Palle Nidra programmes to strengthen security ahead of local body polls.

Anantapur police have begun preparations for the upcoming local body elections, with superintendent of police P. Jagadish directing officers to ensure peaceful and impartial polling in the district.

The SP held a teleconference with DSPs, inspectors, and sub-inspectors across the district on Wednesday, ahead of the crucial meeting of the State Election Commission on Thursday.

Jagadish directed police officers to be proactive and identify sensitive villages and areas. He wanted a close watch on troublemakers and flashpoint areas. He suggested preventive action in factional areas to ensure that minor issues do not escalate into major law-and-order problems.

The SP instructed police officials to undertake Palle Nidra programmes by staying overnight in sensitive villages and assessing law-and-order situations at the grassroots. Officers should interact directly with villagers and identify potential disputes at an early stage, so that timely intervention could prevent escalation.

Jagadish wanted officers to prepare a list of sensitive villages and areas and ensure special surveillance in such areas. He emphasised that there should be no compromise on maintenance of law and order. Police must ensure that elections are conducted in a peaceful and impartial atmosphere.
