Anantapur Girl First To Join 2026 MBBS Batch
Ananya is the daughter of Dr Srinivas Shauri, head of the hospital administration department, and Dr Suchitra, professor of gynaecology.

ANANTAPUR: Ananya Shauri became the first student to join the 2026 MBBS batch through counselling at Anantapur Government Medical College.
Ananya, who secured an All India Rank of 31,073 and an Andhra Pradesh state rank of 816 in NEET-UG, opted for the college under the All India quota and completed certificate verification on Tuesday. College principal Prof. Dr M. Vijayashree handed over admission letter to her.
Ananya is the daughter of Dr Srinivas Shauri, head of the hospital administration department, and Dr Suchitra, professor of gynaecology. Both are working at the Government General Hospital attached to the medical college. Her elder brother is pursuing second-year MBBS at the same institution.
Her parents said they had chosen the college for both their children because of its teaching standards, faculty and individual attention to students. They said the quality of medical education at the college was on par with leading medical institutions in the country.
Ananya said she chose to pursue her MBBS in Anantapur, where she was born and brought up, despite having the opportunity to seek admission to institutions such as AIIMS, Mangalagiri.
Ananya said she wanted to complete her medical education in Anantapur and provide quality healthcare to poor and needy people in the district.
Vice-principal Prof. Dr Telugu Madhusudhan, NSS programme officer Dr Adireddy Paradesi Naidu and senior assistant Radha congratulated Ananya on her admission.
