Anam, Somireddy hail Cabinet decision on Nellore district reorganisation
He said the people of Nellore district were indebted to the government for standing by their interests.

Nellore: Leaders across party lines have welcomed the state Cabinet’s decision on the reorganisation of Nellore district, terming it as a people-centric move that fulfils electoral assurances and safeguards regional interests.
Endowments minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, stating that the decision would secure Nellore district’s future and instil confidence among unemployed youth. He said the Chief Minister responded positively to long-standing public representations by retaining Kaluvoya, Rapur and Saidapuram mandals within Nellore district, ensuring no disruption to irrigation facilities or public convenience.
The minister also noted that the Cabinet approved the merger of Gudur, Chillakuru and Kota mandals, located along the Krishnapatnam Port and industrial corridor, with Nellore district. He described the move as visionary, saying it would spur industrial growth, generate employment and accelerate overall regional development. “This decision lays a clear roadmap for Nellore’s future and reflects the Chief Minister’s commitment to balanced and inclusive development,” he said.
Echoing these views, Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said the coalition government had undertaken district reorganisation strictly in line with public aspirations while honouring promises made during the elections. He said the people of Nellore district were indebted to the government for standing by their interests.
Somireddy welcomed the retention of Kaluvoya, Rapur and Saidapuram mandals, noting that public concerns related to irrigation and administrative convenience had been duly considered. He also expressed satisfaction over the inclusion of Gudur town, along with Gudur, Chillakuru and Kota mandals, in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, calling it the fulfilment of assurances given during the 2024 elections by the Chief Minister and minister Nara Lokesh.
He added that the government had respected public opinion in other regions as well, including retaining Kandukur constituency in Prakasam district, merging Railway Koduru with Tirupati district, Rajampet with Kadapa district, and Rayachoti with Madanapalle–Annamayya district, decisions taken in line with local needs and administrative convenience.
Both leaders thanked the Chief Minister for taking what they described as a bold and inclusive decision, stating that the reorganisation reflects governance rooted in public consent and would yield long-term benefits for development and administration across the state.
