Visakhapatnam: The “Manabadi – Mana Pandaga” programme at the ZPH Girls’ High School in Chodavaram, Anakapalli district, took an unusual turn when District Educational Officer (DEO) Giddi Apparao Naidu attended the event dressed in a school uniform.
The gesture drew attention from students and teachers and formed part of the DEO’s efforts to promote government schools and encourage student enrolment.
Apparao Naidu said wearing the uniform was intended to symbolise respect for government schools and foster a sense of belonging among students. He said the initiative reflected his commitment to strengthening public education and encouraging students to take pride in their institutions.
Welcoming students to the new academic year, the DEO distributed chocolates and apples. Addressing the gathering, he urged students to make full use of the facilities and educational opportunities available in government schools.
He also interacted with students who had recently shifted from private schools and said government schools now provide infrastructure and teaching standards comparable to private institutions while offering an environment that supports talent and overall development.
Officials said Apparao Naidu had the government-supplied uniform stitched at his own expense. His gesture was widely appreciated by students and staff and reinforced the message of equality and inclusiveness in education.
