Anakapalli Boat Tragedy: One Fisherman Dies, Three Safe

Authorities have advised fishermen against venturing into the sea as a low-pressure system prevails over the Bay of Bengal.

Visakhapatnam: A fishing boat capsized near Revu Polavaram in S. Rayavaram mandal of Anakapalli district on Monday.

Four fishermen had ventured into the sea for fishing in the early hours of Monday. They were reportedly unable to detect that the sea had turned rough, causing the boat to capsize.

One of the fishermen, identified as Simhadri of Revu Polavaram, drowned, and his body was later recovered near Bangarammapalem. The other three fishermen were safe.

On the other hand, rescue operations are going on for the six missing fishermen who went fishing in a mechanised vessel, INDAP-VS-MM-83, on July 1. The family members of the fishermen reached Vizag harbour and gathered outside the Mechanised Boat Operators Association office, demanding immediate action.
