Ambati Seeks Independent Probe Into Sai Krishna Custodial Death

He demanded the officer's immediate arrest, alleging that any delay could lead to destruction of evidence.

Vijayawada:YSRC senior leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu on Tuesday questioned the handling of the investigation into the custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna and the disappearance of CCTV footage from Krishnalanka police station, alleging that the probe was aimed at protecting those responsible.

Addressing the media in Guntur, Rambabu asked why circle inspector Nagaraju had not been arrested despite a case being registered. He demanded the officer's immediate arrest, alleging that any delay could lead to destruction of evidence.

Referring to the reported disappearance of CCTV footage from the police station, Rambabu said the loss of critical recordings had weakened public confidence in the investigation. He noted that Supreme Court guidelines require preservation of CCTV footage in police stations for at least 18 months and questioned how the footage could have gone missing.

In a separate case, Rambabu and YSRC MLC M. Arun Kumar renewed their demand for a CBI inquiry into the death of Dalit youth Perupogu Kranthi Kumar.

After visiting Kranthi Kumar's family, the two leaders alleged that police harassment had driven him to take the extreme step and argued that justice could not be ensured through a police-led investigation. They called for an independent probe into the case.
