Amaravati Unstoppable: Lokesh Says Capital Works Continuing at Full Speed Despite Rains

Minister says work continues round the clock across major capital projects

Vijayawada: Education Minister Nara Lokesh has asserted that construction activity in Amaravati is progressing at full throttle despite the ongoing monsoon, dismissing criticism that the capital city is vulnerable to flooding.

Sharing a video on social media under the caption, “Sorry Bro, Amaravati is Unstoppable,” Lokesh took a swipe at detractors who, he said, rush to portray the capital as submerged whenever there is rainfall. “Not a single major project site in Amaravati has halted work due to rains and construction is continuing round the clock.”

Highlighting the government’s commitment to developing the greenfield capital, Lokesh said Amaravati had regained momentum after years of uncertainty and was now witnessing rapid progress. He expressed confidence that the accelerated pace of construction would secure the future of AP and transform Amaravati into a world-class administrative and economic hub.

The video showcased extensive activity across several flagship projects, including the Iconic Towers, assembly complex, high court buildings, major arterial roads, reservoirs, MLA and MLC Towers, AIS Towers, CGO, GO and NGO Towers, Group-D housing complexes, the HappyNest residential project and ministerial Bungalows. Heavy machinery and large teams of workers were seen carrying out construction activities at multiple locations despite wet weather conditions.

Lokesh sarcastically acknowledged the efforts of online trolls who repeatedly claim that Amaravati gets inundated during rains. He said the government had attempted to “help” them find stalled worksites but found that construction was progressing uninterrupted everywhere.

Reiterating the government’s resolve, Lokesh declared that Amaravati’s development journey would continue without pause and urged critics to stop spreading misinformation. Ending the message with the slogan “Jai Amaravati,” he underscored his view that the capital city’s construction programme remained firmly on track.
