AP CM Lays Foundation For LV Prasad Eye Institute In Amaravati

Later, addressing a public meeting after the bhoomi puja, the Chief Minister said it was a matter of pride that a prestigious institution like LV Prasad Eye Institute was coming up in rapidly developing Amaravati. He said the institute, which had already provided nearly 3 crore eye-care services, would expand its services further from Amaravati.The Chief Minister expressed the hope that the Amaravati centre would develop into one of the world's leading institutions for eye-care research, treatment and training. He said LV Prasad Eye Institute had been playing a crucial role in providing eye care to the poor and was operating 319 centres across four states. He appreciated its efforts to provide timely treatment through the Digital Health Eye Profile and welcomed the establishment of the Eye and Brain Centre in Amaravati. He congratulated Dr. G.N. Rao and Venkat Jasti for their efforts in developing the institution.

The Chief Minister said Amaravati was now being discussed across the country and was gaining global recognition as a people's capital.He said the government was developing Amaravati as a No-Pollution, Blue-Green, Green Energy and Carbon-Neutral city, as well as a DeepTech capital. After IT, the State was now focusing on quantum computing, he said, adding that the country's first quantum computing centre was being established in Amaravati. A 133-qubit quantum computer was being set up with the participation of IBM, TCS and L&T.The Chief Minister said 21 quantum startups had already come forward to establish operations in Amaravati, while five quantum computing companies had developed three-qubit computers. Quantum computers would also be installed at various universities on October 3, he added.

Around Rs 50,000 crore worth of works are currently underway in Amaravati, the Chief Minister said. Key infrastructure projects, including inner and outer ring roads, a Sports City and an international airport, are planned for the capital. Institutions such as VIT, SRM and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham have already established their presence, while campuses of BITS Pilani and XLRI are expected to come up soon, he said.Amaravati was being developed as a hub for the knowledge economy, research, healthcare and human development, the Chief Minister said. As part of the healthcare ecosystem, institutions such as Basavatarakam Cancer Institute and LV Prasad Eye Institute were coming up in the capital.He said Amaravati would also emerge as a hub for AI, laboratory automation, experimental biology and a Quantum Bio Valley.The Chief Minister once again appreciated the farmers who contributed their lands for the construction of the capital.

Stating that Amaravati would also emerge as a major centre of financial activity with the proposed Banking Street, the Chief Minister announced that a Pan-IIT Conference would be held in Vijayawada on October 3. Experts who studied at various IITs and are now settled across the world would participate in the conference and engage in discussions on future development, technology and innovation.

Expressing hope that the capital would become a destination for world-class living standards and research, the Chief Minister called upon the youth to make use of emerging technologies and opportunities and aim for excellence.
