Amaravati ORR, NH Works To Be Fast-Tracked: Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy

The minister said the government was committed to improving connectivity and accelerating infrastructure development across the state.

Vijayawada: Roads and buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy has directed officials to expedite the Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR) and key National Highway projects in Andhra Pradesh.

NHAI Amaravati Project Implementation Unit director Viraj Suraj Wala met the minister at the Secretariat on Friday and briefed him on the progress of highway works.

The minister reviewed the land acquisition process for the 190-km, six-lane Amaravati ORR, which will pass through five districts. Officials said the Vinukonda-Guntur NH-544D was being widened from two lanes to four lanes and alignment approval had been secured for the Guntur-Nizampatnam highway. The proposal will be placed before the technical committee, they said.

Janardhan Reddy said the state government had approved free supply of fly ash for the Amaravati ORR, which would facilitate construction. He assured officials that field-level issues would be addressed promptly.

He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had directed the coalition government to prioritise timely completion of national highway projects. A special task force committee had been constituted to resolve pending issues and speed up the works, he said.
