Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Anitha was slightly injured after a drone battery fell on her during the Amaravati Championship 2026, which is being held in Tirupati from August 24 to 27. Police immediately seized the battery.
The four-day event is the final stage of competitions held across the state over the past two months. More than 2.07 lakh sportspersons took part in constituency-level events across 175 constituencies, while 83,650 competed at the district level before the finalists were selected.
The competitions will be held in archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, basketball, chess, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho, weightlifting, volleyball and yoga. Individual and team events will be conducted in the Under-17 category for boys and girls and the Under-23 category for university students.
